Introduced in August of 2002, the Sun Blade 150 workstation offered higher performance and more capabilities than previous Sun workstations. The replacement for the Sun Blade 100, this 64-bit workstation comes with either a 550 MHz or 650 MHz UltraSPARC IIi CPU, up to 2 GB of RAM, and 2-D/3-D graphics options for multi-display support. The Sun Blade 150 workstation was EOL'd (end-of-lifed) in June of 2006. Sun has a free-to-the-public field engineer's handbook called Sunsolve. Introduced in September of 2003, the Sun Blade 1500 Red workstation uses the 1.062GHz UltraSPARC IIIi processor and offers high-performance 64-bit computing. The Sun Blade 1500 workstation is equipped with a rich set of workstation features, including support for 8 GB of DDR memory, up to two internal 80-GB Ultra ATA100 hard drives, five PCI slots, and support for high-performance graphics such as the Sun XVR-100 or Sun XVR-600 graphics accelerators. The Sun Blade 1500 workstation also offers built-in USB 1.1, USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394a FireWire ports and on-board Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000Base-T). The Sun Blade 1500 Red workstation was replaced by the Sun Blade 1500 Silver workstation in February of 2005, and EOL’d (end-of-lifed) in August of 2005. Introduced in February of 2005 as the direct replacement for the Sun Blade 1500 (Sun Blade 1500 Red) workstation, the Sun Blade 1500 Silver workstation uses the 1.503GHz UltraSPARC IIIi processor and offers high-performance 64-bit computing. The Sun Blade 1500 Silver workstation is equipped with a rich set of workstation features, including support for 16 GB of DDR memory, up to two internal 120-GB Ultra ATA100 hard drives, five PCI slots, and support for high-performance graphics such as the Sun XVR-600 or Sun XVR-1200 graphics accelerators. Introduced in June of 2006, The Sun Ultra 25 Workstation features a single UltraSPARC IIIi 1.34-GHz processor with 1-MB Level 2 cache. It also has dual 16x PCI-Express graphics slots – and at the time of its introduction, the best input/output implementation update in the industry in a decade. The Ultra 25 provides for fast, reliable, high-density storage by accommodating up to four internal SATA drives or four SAS drives, leveraging Serial ATA for high density, performance and cost, or SAS for speed. Other features of the Sun Ultra 25 Workstation include: support for up to 8 GB of ECC-protected memory; visualization-class graphics accelerator; high bandwidth memory subsystem with error correction; dual Gigabit Ethernet; three PCI Express and two PCI-X expansion slots that enable high-speed system interconnect, such as external Ultra320 SCSI and dual Gigabit Ethernet adapters; expandable, high-performance storage options; 16-bit audio in/audio out on front and rear panels. The Sun Ultra 25 workstation, along with the Sun Ultra 45 workstation, were the last generation of SPARC procesor based workstations.
